10 Random Things
- I love beautifully illustrated books – especially children’s books. I collect them.
- I also love to read books written for children. They seem so much more creative than books for adults. My latest find is a story about a girl cockroach who wears a big pink bow and pearls and loves to eat human food. Her best friend is a flea.
- An early childhood fact: I used to call cheese balls “A-balls” as in “I want another A-ball.” I also used to call squirrels “squay-los.”
- I love Sherlock Holmes but have never actually read any of Arthur Conan Doyles’ Holmes stories.
- I have very short and slanted ear canals (or so my doctor told me). Water collects in them every time I shower, and I have to use Swim-Ear to avoid getting infections.
- When I was in fourth grade, I met Jay Leno. I wrote a speech about meeting him that won first place in my classroom speech contest. I totally bombed when I had to give the speech in front of the school for the school-wide contest.
- I am afraid of birds, especially those chicken-sized or larger. I like some smaller birds like humming birds, cardinals, blue jays and robins, but I still don’t want to get close to them.
- My favorite dreams are those in which I have a new house or apartment, and I find a hidden room with lots of space to decorate.
- I love the Thin Man movies with William Powell and Myrna Loy. I can’t think of any modern-day actors who could compete with their performances as Nick and Nora. And I love Asta, of course!
- I love the Putumayo world music CDs. They are great for listening to in the car. Plus, the packaging design for each CD is always fantastic.
